Please don’t harm our crocs, they are a protected species. Do not swim in random rivers, creeks, and waterholes in the Top End. Watch for signage. Public swimming areas are signed as such.

Be Croc Aware. If you be smart and croc safe you will be fine to go fishing in the Adelaide River.
Can we pet the animals?
Yes, when they come to the fence. Do not enter the paddocks unless you can cross it in 9 seconds because the Buffalo Bulls, “Regina” the Pig, and “Murray “the Brahman bull can do it in 10 seconds! Keep safe behind the fence! Just like coconuts, the Indonesian Swamp Buffalo injures more people every year in the Top End than crocodiles do…. do not tease them.
I heard Mt Bundy has a special history and there are historic sites to see?
The first lessees of Mt Bundy Station were brothers Frank and Hubert Fred Hardy, colourful and infamous Buffalo hunters. The property was abundant with wild buffalo that had bred upon the floodplains of the Adelaide River and Mary River. Hardy led a tough life hunting buffalo on horseback with a team of aboriginal stockmen and women and processed the buffalo for the lucrative hide market in Europe. Fred Hardy was tragically killed in a horse race on the property in 1940 at the age of 59yrs. He is buried on the hill overlooking his beloved Mt Bundy Station. You can visit his gravesite.
The bombing of Darwin in 1942 by the Japanese saw a military change to the property as the forces withdrew to Adelaide River as the frontline of defense during WWII. The American Navy developed a signaling site to warn of incoming submarines and the Australians and Americans based their air force at Mt Bundy Station with numerous hidden airfields repairing the damaged bombers. Remnants of this war history remain and can be viewed on the property.
The 1960s to 1990s saw American company WR GRACE and Co introduce Brahman Cattle and Quarter Horses, in the late ’60s. The Americans built all the buildings here today except the BAR Shed which was pre-American probably the 1940’s. The property supported 38 staff and families in the ’70s and ’80s. The accommodation we offer today was originally the Managers house, Cook’s cottage, and the single man’s Stockman’s Quarters. The big house you see on the hill was the big boss’s house when he visited from America.
Can we fly our drone around the property?
Flying your drone is not permitted on our property without permission from management. We, our animals and our guests do not always appreciate the intrusion of privacy.
